The club was founded in 1973 when a new six rink indoor bowls centre was built adjacent to the outdoor Lawn Bowls Club at Logans Way Chesterton. Since then, two additional rinks and a restaurant facility have been added, making our club one of the premier indoor bowls centres in the UK.
Today the thriving club boasts a membership of over 900 bowlers and most play in one or more of the numerous club leagues and competitions. We also have teams participating in County, Senior Citizen and Junior Leagues and these will take our members out to clubs such as Peterborough, Wisbech, Ely and St Neots. We also count a number of National finalists and indeed champions, amongst our membership.
It’s not just bowls at CCIBC either. The clubs social team organise bingo, cribbage, quiz, music & race nights, dances, whist drives etc. and a New Years Eve party.
Each season the club is host to a number of visiting teams and this year we welcomed East Ham, Bishops Stortford, Bletchley, Diss, Ford Sports, Kent Tourers, amongst others. We also host a number of County competitions, such as the Denny Cup and the Yetton, Egham and Vivienne Trophies.
The club has a large six rink surface and, in an adjoining section, a further two rinks, all in a welcoming and warm environment. The viewing area has ample comfortable seating for spectators and those enjoying a drink with friends. Our restaurant serves reasonably priced food every lunchtime and at other times to suit demand.
