Cobham Bowling club offers all-year-round bowling, at a level to suit you: whether enjoying the company at our social events, learning and honing your skills at roll-ups through to representing us at County level.
Our extensive involvement with other clubs throughout Surrey and a few beyond, provides the opportunity to try different surfaces and discover new places.
As a beginner, there are always people to help you based on their experience – although you will find a style of play that suits you. Testing yourself in club competitions and Friendly matches will provide a challenge and learning experience that never ceases – as each player and each rink on any day are different.
Club members plays bowls in the Clubhouse (Short Mat) between the end of September and late April, and outdoors on our Green between the end of April and the end of September.
Outdoor
Members may use the Green at any time, provided the rink has not been booked in the ‘Rink book’ (diary), the contract groundsmen are not tending it, or the green convenor has not closed all or part of it. For novice members, coaching can be arranged. There are practice sessions on Monday afternoons, though the best time to meet fellow members and to play bowls may be at a Thursday evening practice or at Socials. Apart from the match fees, there are normally no charges to playing members for playing outdoor bowls at the Club.
Indoor (Short Mat)
Short Mat Membership is available. Members can play on the mats and any time that the mats are down, provided that the Clubhouse or the mat(s) has not been booked in the ‘Mat book’ (diary). There are roll-ups (practice sessions) several times a week: Monday and Wednesday afternoons and Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
There is a fee of £2 for Indoor roll-ups and matches, and any charges necessary to cover the costs of catering.
