Wetherby Bowling Club

Wetherby Bowling Club is one of the few clubs that can offer both Crown Green Bowling and Flat Green Bowling (sometimes called Lawn Bowls). The Crown Green is even equipped with floodlights so that evening matches can be played right into the winter months.

Wetherby Bowling Club offers friendly games for those who just want a relaxing game but the club also participates in various local leagues which may appeal to those with a more competitive nature. The picture below shows an example of Flat Green Bowls in action.

The Club is situated near the A1(M) and is within easy access for people from the Leeds, Collingham, Harrogate and York areas

The inaugural meeting of Wetherby Bowling Club was held in 1986. The ‘Greens’ were laid in 1987 and the Club was entered in Flat and Crown Green league competitions in 1988. We are one of the few clubs that provide both formats of outdoor bowls.

We offer both playing membership and social membership and have over 80 members.

Wetherby Bowling Club has six Crown Green teams playing in Harrogate and Tadcaster leagues as well as three Flat Green teams.

The Club runs a floodlit Autumn Mini – League competition which takes place on weekday evenings (Monday to Thursday) from early September until late Novemebr / early December.

In addition to the league competitions we have annual internal competitions and weekly practice sessions where anyone is welcome to come and learn the game. For those with little or no previous experience we can offer friendly instructions.

We have fund raising events throughout the year where both the playing and social membership participates.

Wetherby Bowling Club can provide ideal facilities for businesses who want to organise a corporate event for their staff or for parents who want to arrange a party event for children who are 10 years of age or over.
